If we’re going to hand money out, let’s REALLY hand some money out!

Howard Gleckman, for Forbes Media, says, “Congress is about to pass [actually has already passed] another coronavirus relief bill, adding another $500 billion to the more than $2 trillion it already spent to support business and individuals in the midst of the pandemic. And it likely will approve trillions more in future stimulus in the coming months.”

And spending money “to support business and individuals” is just a portion of the spending. There is quite a bit of spending in these “relief” bills that goes to the states and to a whole collection of non-covid related entities just looking for a hand-out.

And what do WE get from all of this spending? WE get like $1,200…, if we’re lucky. Many of us will get ZERO because we’re so wealthy or don’t qualify somehow. Ha!

So, WE may get a measly $1,200 while these other governmental charities get millions and billions of dollars thrown at them.

Our representatives in Washington are already starting to argue over where the next round of trillions of dollars in “relief” spending will go.

Allow me to offer a suggestion.

JUST GIVE THE PEOPLE SOME RELIEF!

In your own words Pelosi, quit throwing all of us “crumbs!”

I’m pretty sure we would do a better job of spending our money than the government does.

Let’s amend that to ABSOLUTELY SURE.

If we gave EVERY adult in the country (209 million people) $25,000, it would cost us 5.225 trillion dollars…, or about what we’ll end up spending anyway in total, anyway.

If we wanted to get a little crazier, we could give every adult $50,000 at a cost of 10.45 trillion dollars.

And really, what’s another 5 trillion bucks between friends?

No one else seems to be worried about spending money we don’t have.

So, what does a trillion of something look like, anyway?

The United States national debt is currently over 20 trillion dollars. We hear these HUGE numbers thrown around all the time, but does anyone really have a grip on what a BILLION or a TRILLION of anything really looks like?

Just for a refresher on how you get to a Trillion and beyond, recall from grade school the implications of adding three zeros after a “one”.

1 = One

1,000 = One Thousand

1,000,000 = One Million

1,000,000,000 = One Billion

1,000,000,000,000 = One Trillion

1,000,000,000,000,000 = One Quadrillion

1,000,000,000,000,000,000 = One Quintillion

Our national deficit is only in the lower trillions now.

We’ve got a lot of room to grow our debt!

In fact, we’ll never run out of bigger numbers!

That’s just a fact.

The Imagination Station website asks, “OK, so what does a trillion look like?”

The problem with most answers to questions like this is that they try to put it into perspective by relating it to things normal people have no perspective for. For instance, did you know that one trillion dollars would stretch nearly from the earth to the sun?

I don’t know when the last time you traveled from the earth to the sun, but for me this comparison is just as mind-boggling as the concept of a trillion of something.

One Million Pennies

The Megapenny project uses something a lot more common to most of us, a penny. Most people have a few in their pockets or in a jar and it provides a much better sense of scale. Round up 16 of them, stack them on top of each other into a little pile and it’s one inch tall. Place them side by side in a line and they stretch out one foot.

So much for what’s in your pockets, now break open your piggy banks and gather up one million pennies. One million pennies creates a wall four feet wide, five feet tall and one foot thick.

One Billion Pennies

Stepping up to a billion, things start to change as we start imagining stacks of pennies the size of a typical school bus. Five school buses to be exact.

Add another three zeros and we begin to enter into the realm of the national debt (in dollars – not pennies). One trillion pennies would create a mind boggling cube with edges nearly as long as a football field.

One Trillion Pennies

Of course, the final step here is to image twenty (20) of these cubes of pennies. Each penny representing one dollar of the national debt. The physical representation of large numbers is an interesting way to wrap your head around what it means to say something is in the billions or trillions, and beyond.

So, Congress…, if you’re going to throw all of this “funny money” around…, remember…, it’s not YOUR money, it’s OUR money, and we want some of it back without it having to filter down through your wasteful and misdirected bureaucracy.

This is the type of hate we are up against.

According to Dom Calicchio of Fox News, “A professor at a New Jersey university is blaming President Trump and his supporters for the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, claiming it’s their fault African-Americans have been dying at a disproportionate rate.”

‘“F— each and every Trump supporter. You absolutely did this. You are to blame,’ were among the comments – several of them containing profanity – posted on Twitter this week by Brittney Cooper, an associate professor in the Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Rutgers University.”

First of all…, seriously Rutgers? This level of racism and general idiocy is allowed at your university?

Secondly…, this person is allowed to interact with and teach students at your university?

Rutgers University is obviously an unapologetic, anti-American, liberal indoctrination and promotional center…, as well as a liberal disinformation mouthpiece.

Like I have said in previous blogs…, it is time to start calling out these individuals and institutions for what they are. The days of giving these people the benefit of the doubt are over.

“Necropolitics” is the use of social and political power to dictate how some people may live and how some must die.

So, Professor Cooper, you can take your “necropolitics” and shove them…, unless you are referring to you and your confused democrat friends, that is.

C’MON MAN!

You can say that again!

According to Joe Hernandez and Nicholas Pugliese of WHYY-FM, a PBS and NPR affiliate in Philadelphia, “During his daily press briefing Wednesday, Murphy [Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey] unleashed an uncharacteristically angry tirade [Why does an “angry tirade” need to be characterized?] against U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for comments he made earlier in the day.”

“The Republican from Kentucky suggested that some states and cities should declare bankruptcy instead of relying on the federal government to prop up public finances that have been obliterated by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Please notice how McConnell is tagged as “the republican from Kentucky, but that Murphy is not identified as a democrat.

Specifically, according to Ted Barrett and Manu Raju of CNN, “Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell took a hard line Wednesday against more funding for state and local governments in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, saying that Republicans are not interested in ‘revenue replacement for state governments’ or ‘solving their pension problems.’”

“McConnell’s tough words came a day after the Senate approved a $484 billion bill [known as coronavirus response bill phase 3.5] to help small businesses and hospitals respond to the coronavirus outbreak.”

“McConnell suggested in interviews Wednesday that Democrats are trying to get the federal government to essentially bail out state and local governments for bad decisions they have made related to public pension obligations and other sources of expensive debt.”

‘“I would certainly be in favor of allowing states to use the bankruptcy route,’ McConnell told Hugh Hewitt in a radio interview. ‘It saves some cities. And there’s no good reason for it not to be available. My guess is their first choice would be for the federal government to borrow money from future generations to send it down to them now so they don’t have to do that. That’s not something I’m going to be in favor of.’”

Agreed. Why should states, that have been fiscally responsible, now be forced to bail out those states which have blown their budgets year after year after year, and spent money they never had, or were ever going to have.

“New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, also slammed McConnell’s remarks Wednesday, calling it ‘one of the dumbest statements of all time.’”

I ask you…, why should the people of McConnell’s state, Kentucky, who are looked down upon as “ignorant hillbillies” by the “oh so wise and smart east coast liberals,” pick-up the tab because these “oh so wise and smart east coast liberals” don’t know how to balance their checkbook?

And it’s gone way beyond the “balancing of checkbooks.” These “oh so wise and smart east coast liberals” have the equivalent of multiple personal loans, multiple second mortgages, and a wallet full of maxed out credit cards.

Governor Cuomo then told his brother, CNN’s Chris Cuomo on “Cuomo Prime Time,” ‘“He then says this is a bailout to the blue states, which was a really offensive statement.’”

This is the worst kind of “offensive statement” for a liberal…, BECAUSE IT’S THE TRUTH!

‘“Come on, man,’ Murphy said. ‘That is completely and utterly irresponsible [referring to McConnell’s suggestion that the states consider bankruptcy].’”

“C’mon yourself, Murph!

It is you and your blue state friends who are, and who have been, “utterly irresponsible.”

“Murphy suggested that, absent federal help, states would be able to stay financially afloat but be forced to make painful decisions about spending cuts.”

Cry us all a river Murphy.

Everyone, everywhere, is forced to make painful decisions from time to time. That’s why you all are in the position you’re in. No one chooses to be responsible or accountable.

‘“We will gut the living daylights in every state in America out of the services — the exact services — that our citizens need right now. We will just cut, cut, cut, and cut,’ Murphy warned.”

No, Governor Murphy…, not “every state…,” just those states, like yours, which have been mismanaged, while spending foolishly and irresponsibly for decades.

“Murphy again called on federal lawmakers to provide direct cash assistance to states that have been hardest hit by the pandemic so they could help residents ‘in their most profound hour of need.’”

Are you not aware Governor Murphy, that on March 25^th, Congress passed phase 3 of the coronavirus response bill, called The CARES Act [Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security]?

This was a $2 trillion [that’s $2,000,000,000,000.00] relief bill that has already targeted $340 billion [that’s $340,000,000,000.00] in aid to cities and states, based on need, regarding those states affected the worst by the virus.

Your share of that should be quite substantial, Governor.

In fact, New Jersey would be second in line for this money based on the coronavirus case numbers, and would stand to receive over $40 billion [that’s $40,000,000,000.00] in aid!

SO, WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU CRYING ABOUT, GOVERNOR?

Is that a “depends” you’re wearing for a mask?

I don’t see anybody bailing me out, my friends, our families or our businesses if we choose to be stupid with our money.

But apparently you “oh so wise and smart east coast, blue state, liberals” don’t have to play by the same rules as everyone else.

You just spend, spend, spend and spend, and then expect someone else to pick up the bill?

Like I said…, I don’t see anybody bailing me out, my friends, our families or our businesses if we choose to be stupid with our money.
