I’ll tell you who and what they think they are. They think that they are above the law. What they are is the “deep state” or the “Shadow government.” They are at the heart of “the swamp.”
So, what’s the problem?
The problem is that members of Congress, that We The People elected, are requesting to see government documents from the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI, and they are being ignored, slow-walked, stonewalled, flat-out denied, and redacted to death. By “redacted to death,” I mean that even when the House Committee on Intelligence manages to get some documents from the DOJ and the FBI, there is so much “blacked-out” (redacted) because of supposed security concerns, that they are virtually meaningless.
Redactions are supposed to be used to protect the nation’s security, not the “security” of the weasels operating outside of law.
This has been going on for over a year now. Congress has displayed much more patience than I would have. But they have run out of patience now, and they are demanding that the DOJ and the FBI comply immediately with their subpoenas for this un-redacted information.
When the “hired help” feel they have the right to ignore the people’s representatives we have a problem.
When the “hired help” feel they have the right to hide information from the people’s representatives we have a problem.
When the “hired help” feel they are above the law we have a problem.
Despite promises made by both DOJ Attorney General Jeff Sessions and FBI Director Christopher Wray to comply with the congressional requests, investigators on numerous committees say they have failed to do so.
Does President Trump have to order a platoon of Marines to march into these organizations and take the information that Congress has a legal right to see? Seriously, what is it going to take?
These officials at the DOJ and the FBI obviously feel they cannot allow “non-swampers” to see what they have been up to. The drive of self-preservation, and the preservation of other “swampers,” is strong.
I predict that Congress will never see the documents that they really want to see. “The swamp” may sacrifice a few “snakes” in the meantime, but in the end, short of sending the Marines in, these documents, and their secrets, will remain property of ‘the deep state.”
