Wooo! Was I watching “WrestleMania,” WWE Wednesday Night “SmackDown,” or the democrat debate?!

adebate 1

adebate 5a

adebate 6

Like WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) superstar “Road Dogg” Jesse James says, “Oh, you didn’t know? You’re a$$ better call somebodyyyyy!”

And the democrats who should’ve “called somebody” were Michael Bloomberg and Amy Klobuchar.

adebate 10

Bloomberg should have called 911 and Klobuchar should have taken a page from “Who wants to be a Millionaire” and “asked the audience” or “phoned a friend!”

adebate 8

According to Mary Anne Marsh [Mary Anne Marsh is a Democrat political analyst and a principal at Dewey Square Group in Boston where she provides strategic counsel for Fortune 100 companies, non-profits and political campaigns.] for Fox News, “In fierce Democratic presidential debate, 1 winner and 5 losers.”

Ms. Marsh’s bio indicates that she is an extremely biased liberal, and I would argue the democrats had no winners in this debate.  The only real winner here was President Trump!

adebate 7

I felt her overall take on the debate, however, was pretty accurate.

“Multibillionaire Michael Bloomberg landed in Las Vegas like a highly anticipated show on the Strip. But when he took to the stage with five competitors for the Democratic presidential nomination Wednesday night, their debate immediately became an Ultimate Fighting Championship [UFC] match.”

“Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., landed the most blows and won the night [This is debatable. I would say she wasn’t really attacked by anyone because none of them feel she is someone to worry about anymore!]. Warren would not be ignored or denied [This means the debate moderators failed to stop her from being a blabber mouth and time hog.] Warren flattened Bloomberg out of the gate using his own words against the former New York City mayor and he never recovered. As a result, voters got to see the real Warren, who was the front-runner last fall. And they saw the real Bloomberg, not the filtered one seen on paid TV ads and in social media.”

Have you realized yet that Ms. Marsh is an Elizabeth Warren fan?

“Warren’s strong performance helped her at a time when she needs it most and hurt Bloomberg so badly that he may not recover.”

This I agree with.  The whole world saw that Michael “The Emperor” Bloomberg has no clothes!  He was unmasked as a fraud, a hack, and not ready for prime time.

In Marsh’s opinion, “There was one winner [Warren] and five losers at the end of the debate – Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont; former Vice President Joe Biden; Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota; former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg; and Bloomberg, who turned out to be the biggest loser of all.”

“With Bloomberg standing to her right Warren landed a left to the jaw with a shattering exchange using his own words about women against him. She then used his nondisclosure agreements, the stop-and-frisk tactic employed by police primarily against minorities when he was mayor, and his vast fortune estimated at more than $60 billion against him too.”

“Bloomberg’s performance was a disaster. He was not the Bloomberg of his ads in this debate – and that’s now a big problem for him.”

“Warren exposed the real Michael Bloomberg and it was not a pretty picture.”

“It was Warren’s relentless challenge to Bloomberg on a host of issues – including his treatment of women who worked for him and his refusal to release them from nondisclosure agreements – as well as his treatment of people of color with his stop-and-frisk policy.”

“Bloomberg’s attempts to apologize and explain only made the situation worse. His apology came off as more about convenience than sincerity – and that will register with voters too.”

“Finally, Bloomberg also sounded a lot like President Trump when asked about releasing his tax returns, raising issues about his lack of transparency.”

“Sanders, the self-described democratic socialist who represents Vermont was repeatedly questioned about his lack of transparency regarding his medical records, his recent heart attack and the cost of his “Medicare-for-all” plan.”

Mayor Pete “Buttigieg is the leader in delegates at this early stage from his strong finish in Iowa and New Hampshire. He used the debate to land a few blows on Sanders, with whom he’s locked in a delegate fight.”

“The former mayor also hit Klobuchar, who he is competing with for moderate voters…,” and they “… had a number of exchanges in their fight for moderate voters.”

I particularly liked when Mayor Pete referred to Klobuchar’s previous inability to name the president of Mexico, even though she is on trade and immigration committees in the Senate.

Her response was, “Are you mocking me?” and “Are you calling me dumb?” Obviously attempting put Mayor Pete on the defensive while trying to gain some sympathy for herself.

I would say, “If the shoe fits, wear it, Amy!”

Bam!

adebate 2

Former Vice-President “Biden did nothing to help himself. He looked like a tourist in Las Vegas rather than someone who should own the stage.”

Ha!

“Biden did little if anything to reassure voters he’s the best one to take on Trump or stem his slide in the polls. And that’s more bad news for Biden in this race.”

Bloomberg did manage to land a blow on Bernie, however, when he said, “Sanders, the best known socialist over here, happens to be a millionaire with three houses.”

Boom!

adebate 3

The truth hurts, right, Bernie?

The truth hurts in general for all of these democrat candidates.

And that’s the truth!

Wham!

adebate 4

I’m actually looking forward to the next democrat debate.

I’m sure Mini-Mike Bloomberg can’t say the same!

Hee Haw! Hee Haw!  Are these people and their “service” animals making jackasses out of the rest of us?

“Ooh, ooh, ooh, ah, ah, ah, ah!

That’s a big “YES” in Capuchin Monkey language…, another popular “service” animal.

I’ve heard multiple stories now about questionable “service” animals and questionable use of these animals.

I believe it’s time for MrEricksonRules to rule on the correct way of looking at this whole “service” animal situation.

aanimals 7

The latest story regarding “service” animals revolves around a horse!

Yes…, a horse.

According to Lee Brown of The New York Post, “A Michigan woman startled other passengers on a recent series of flights when she brought aboard a mini-service horse and traveled with him in first class to California.”

aanimals 1

“Ronica Froese made the journey starting on Feb. 7 with her equine companion Fred, who was specially trained to make the high-altitude trip, according to WXMI.”

If you say so, Ronica.

‘“I paid an arm and a leg for tickets, but I did so because it was Fred’s first time and I wanted him to be comfortable,’ Froese told the station.”

aanimals 2

‘“I wanted him to have the most room.’”

Oh by all means!

Let’s make sure the horse is comfortable!

I haven’t been comfortable on a flight since 1977!!!

“Froese, who has trained Fred — who dressed in a sleek suit that made him look like a Lucha Libre wrestler — to be a therapy and a service horse, said everyone was ‘sweet as pie.’”

And “There ain’t no education in the second kick of a mule” either.  Right Ronica?

“She said that the ‘experience was way better than I actually anticipated.’”

That’s because I wasn’t sitting anywhere near you, Ronica!

Believe that!

“Fred’s flying days may soon be a thing of the past, however, with the US Transportation Department recently announcing plans to tighten the laws so that only dogs actually trained to help the disabled qualify for flights.”

“Surprisingly, Froese seems to agree in part — telling WXMI that the system is ‘out of control.’”

What?

Please tell me more.

‘“It’s a very abused process — there are a lot of untrained service animals on the plane that are not trained,’ Froese told the station.”

Oh…, and Ms. Froese knows this because, how?

‘“It’s definitely an abused system, but the sad part is what the DOT is looking at doing, they are looking at excluding me as a handler from taking my horse on the plane,’ she said.”

I agree it’s definitely an “abused system” as well, Ronica…, but you, of course, are not doing any of the abusing.

You and your horse, I mean.

You and your horse sitting in first class on an airplane, I mean.

I really don’t think I’m that far out of touch with our society today, am I?

Maybe I am.

aanimals 6

If flying on a passenger jet next to horses, cows, pigs, snakes, etc. is now okay these days, then I guess “I” am the jackass!

But I really don’t think so.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Disability Rights Section, “The Department of Justice published revised final regulations implementing the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for title II (State and local government services) and title III (public accommodations and commercial facilities) on September 15, 2010, in the Federal Register. These requirements, or rules, clarify and refine issues that have arisen over the past 20 years and contain new, and updated, requirements, including the 2010 Standards for Accessible Design (2010 Standards).”

So they’re adding to and modifying the law without worrying about going through that old bothersome Congress, whose job it is to make the laws.

Having unaccountable, unelected, Washington bureaucrats creating their own legislation is a troubling habit that Obama era “regulators” grew accustomed to.

The Americans with Disabilities Act [Law] was enacted in 1990 under George H. W. Bush.

“Beginning on March 15, 2011, only dogs are recognized as service animals under titles II and III of the ADA.”

“A service animal is a dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability.”

“Generally, title II and title III entities must permit service animals to accompany people with disabilities in all areas where members of the public are allowed to go.”

“Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Examples of such work or tasks include guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheelchair, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medications, calming a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack, or performing other duties. Service animals are working animals, not pets. The work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person’s disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.”

What was that again?

“Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.”

So “providing comfort or emotional support does not qualify” when determining the need of a “service” animal.

Okay.

I just wanted to make sure we were clear about that.

“Under the ADA, State and local governments, businesses, and nonprofit organizations that serve the public generally must allow service animals to accompany people with disabilities in all areas of the facility where the public is normally allowed to go. For example, in a hospital it would be inappropriate to exclude a service animal from areas such as patient rooms, clinics, cafeterias, or examination rooms. However, it may be appropriate to exclude a service animal from operating rooms or burn units where the animal’s presence may compromise a sterile environment.”

“When it is not obvious what service an animal provides, only limited inquiries are allowed. Staff may ask two questions: (1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability, and (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform. Staff cannot ask about the person’s disability, require medical documentation, require a special identification card or training documentation for the dog, or ask that the dog demonstrate its ability to perform the work or task.”

Hmm, that’s interesting.

Soooo, someone parking in a “disabled only” parking spot has to display a “disabled” parking tag, but these people cannot be questioned in the least bit?

That doesn’t seem appropriate to me…, but let’s proceed.

“Allergies and fear of dogs are not valid reasons for denying access or refusing service to people using service animals. When a person who is allergic to dog dander and a person who uses a service animal must spend time in the same room or facility, for example, in a school classroom or at a homeless shelter, they both should be accommodated by assigning them, if possible, to different locations within the room or different rooms in the facility.”

I’m kind of not getting how “they both should be accommodated.” In a situation regarding allergies, both parties would not be able to be in the same space.  One of the parties would, by definition, have to be denied access.

It happens, people.

The world cannot be completely fair, or even fair at all in some cases.

Adults understand this.

And what was all that talk earlier about, “It may be appropriate to exclude a service animal from operating rooms or burn units where the animal’s presence may compromise a sterile environment?”

I guess there’s compromising an environment and there’s compromising an environment.

“Establishments that sell or prepare food must allow service animals in public areas even if state or local health codes prohibit animals on the premises.”

That makes perfect sense, doesn’t it?

“In addition to the provisions about service dogs, the Department’s revised ADA regulations have a new, separate provision about miniature horses that have been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities.”

Remember what I said before about these unaccountable bureaucrats adding to and modifying the law without worrying about having to go through Congress…, whose job it is to make the laws?

Well, here you go.

When the law was originally passed, it was limited to service dogs only.  The law was never intended to allow horses or any other animal the designation of a “service animal.”

Yet, here we are.

In many cases, people intentionally confuse “service animals” with “comfort animals,” “emotional support animals,” or “therapy animals,” in order to get additional allowances or considerations that they are not necessarily entitled to.

In fact…, the Americans with Disabilities Act itself does not actually define or address service animals at all!  Animals are not even mentioned in the statute, but concepts like “reasonable accommodations” and “reasonable policy modifications” are established there, which opens the doors to a world of interpretations.

“Until 2010 the DOJ and DOT regulations defined service animals the same way (“any guide dog, signal dog, or other animal individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability …”). In 2010 DOJ revised their regulations and eliminated the “other animal” part of the definition; now only dogs can be considered service animals under DOJ’s rules. A service animal can be any type, size, or breed of dog, but cannot be any other type of animal.”

“Cats, monkeys, goats, rats, snakes, rabbits, pigs, or other types of animals, regardless of whether they have been trained to perform tasks for people with disabilities or how well-behaved they might be, are not considered service animals under DOJ’s rules.”

In addition those animals listed above, we have seen iguanas, ferrets, parrots, squirrels and ducks claimed to be “service animals” as well.

aanimals 3

aanimals 4

aanimals 5

Please don’t get me wrong.

I love dogs, and I don’t have a problem with most animals.

I just don’t think animals belong in the cabin on a passenger jet, for any reason, period.

Not when the airlines are already treating us like a bunch of sardines when they pack us in there!

NOT WINNING in the service animal, support animal, and therapy animal arena at this time.

Well, well, well…, look at what liberal “pot” is calling a liberal “kettle” black!

Joseph A. Wulfsohn of Fox News says, “MSNBC anchor Chuck Todd is facing backlash on Monday night for suggesting that supporters for Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., are part of a ‘digital brown shirt brigade.’”

amsnbc 1

According to urbandictionay .com, “brown shirts” are, “Soldiers in Hitler’s storm trooper army during the Nazi regime. They were called this because of the colored shirts they wore.  To call someone a ‘brown shirt’ is to call them a Nazi soldier, usually hinting that they oppose human rights or freedom.”

amsnbc 2

“During a panel discussion on Sanders’ surge ahead of the New Hampshire primary, Todd cited a column critical of Sanders’ online support,” Wulfsohn added.

‘“I want to bring up something that Jonathan Last put in The Bulwark today,’ Todd began. ‘Here’s what he says, “No other candidate has anything like this digital brown shirt brigade. I mean, except for Donald Trump. The question that no one is asking is this; what if you can’t win the presidency without an online mob? What if we now live in a world having a bullying, agro-social media running around, hobbling everyone who sticks their head up is either an important ingredient for or a critical marker of success?”’”

Ya.., the other democrats only wish they had “on-line mobs” like Bernie does, or even more so, like President Trump has!

“He continued, ‘I know that everybody’s freaking out about this, but you saw the MAGA rally that’s preparing around here. There are people coming from three or four states on that. That’s real — and this is like Bernie.’”

Uh…, not quite.  You would be more correct that Bernie is like President Trump…, only on a much smaller scale.

amsnbc 5

“That sparked major backlash on social media, with the hashtag #firechucktodd trending on Twitter.”

Fire Chuck Todd?!

Why, they’re not claiming he’s “fake news” are they?!

amsnbc 7

In Chuck Todd’s defense, I’m sure he was just following marching orders…, sticking with the “brown shirts,” military type theme.

What we have here is a case of the democrat establishment “throwing some shade” Bernie’s way.

They have to incrementally attack Bernie, because Bernie will not be allowed to win…, let’s make that clear.

I mean Bernie isn’t even a democrat after all…, he’s an “independent.”

He’s allowed to get into the mix, and to bring voters to the table…, but he’s not allowed to actually win.

“Sanders’ national press secretary, Briahna Gray, blasted the Nazi-inspired comparison.”

‘“Digital brown shirt brigade.’ That’s how our Jewish candidate’s supporters are being described on the MSM [Main Stream Media]. The contempt shown for ordinary people is really something,’ Gray tweeted.”

Unless, of course, that “contempt” is directed at Trump supporters! Then it’s acceptable.

amsnbc 11

I’m sure “The Squad” members, led by AOC, would not have any problem with the anti-Semitic and idiotic Nazi undertones here.

“Todd faced similar blowback in December insulting Trump voters by suggesting they ‘want to be lied to since they believe in fairy tales — like Noah’s Ark.’”

Excuse me…, but what in the hell are you talking about, Chuck?!

You’re insulting every Christian out here by calling The Bible a “fairy tale,” and then questioning their intelligence.

amsnbc 3

“On a special installment of ‘Meet the Press,’ Todd spent much of the show focused on the spread of ‘misinformation’ in the media landscape.”

Oh really?  Conveniently leaving MSNBC, CNN, and all the rest of the liberal media out of that “landscape,” no doubt.

“But, during a panel discussion, he pointed to a letter to the editor of the Lexington Herald Leader from January 2019, something Todd thought was a ‘fascinating attempt’ to explain why so many Americans support President Trump.”

Oh, please…, enlighten us all with your “fascinating” explanation!

“The letter read, ‘[W]hy do people support Trump? It’s because people have been trained from childhood to believe in fairy tales. … This set their minds up to accept things that make them feel good. … The more fairy tales and lies he tells the better they feel. … Show me a person who believes in Noah’s ark and I will show you a Trump voter.’”

amsnbc 9

amsnbc 10

Aha.

Ok…, show me someone who believes money grows on trees…, that Socialism will solve all of our problems…, and that the earth is going to end in 10 years…, and I’ll show you a liberal democrat.

‘“This gets at something, Dean, that my executive producer likes to say, “Hey, voters want to be lied to sometimes.” They don’t always love being told hard truths,’ Todd told New York Times executive editor Dean Baquet.”

Yes, we know Chuck.  Democrat voters are especially represented here!

amsnbc 4

‘“I’m not quite sure I buy that,’ Baquet immediately responded. ‘I’m not convinced that people want to be lied to. I think people want to be comforted, and I think bad politicians sometimes say comforting things to them.’”

Ya don’t say, Mr. Baquet…, ya don’t say.

More “Swampy” Nursery Rhymes!

The Second Edition of MrEricksonRules’ “Swampy” Nursery Rhymes!

arhymes 8

I know you’ve all been waiting patiently for this.

Well, here it is!

This much anticipated second edition of my “Swampy” nursery rhymes pays tribute to the sad democrat presidential candidates still in the race.

arhymes 2

A farewell to Elizabeth Warren, aka “Pocahontas,” aka “the bag lady,” ala “There was an old woman who lived in a shoe.”

There was an old bag lady who thought she was cool,

She had so many supporters she started to drool;

Thoughts of becoming the president they grew in her head,

But her lying and stupidness quickly put that to bed.

arhymes 3

A Rhyme for “Crazy” Bernie, read to “It’s raining; it’s pouring.”

Bernie’s whining and roaring.

The OLD man is boring.

He may be the frontrunner after primary two,

But be prepared, Bernie, cuz they’re gonna screw you!

arhymes 5

A Tribute to another OLD friend, “Sleepy” Joe Biden, sung to “Hush, little baby don’t say a word.”

Hush, Creepy Joe-oe don’t Say a Word,

Cuz every time I hear you you sound like a turd.

And if your statements don’t make sense,

They’ll be ignored or blamed on Pence.

And if Barack won’t endorse your race,

Then that’s a real slap in your face.

And if you can’t actually win a state,

Then dropping out may be your fate.

And if your campaign just isn’t meant to be,

It’s not like a big surprise to me.

Barack said, “You don’t have to do this, Joe,”

You should have listened and just stayed home.

arhymes 1

Another ode to “Sleepy” Joe, sung to “Oh where, oh where has my little dog gone.”

Oh where, oh where has Sleepy Joe gone?

Oh where, oh where can he be?

With two 5th place finishes to start the race,

Oh where, oh where can he be?

Oh where, oh where has Sleepy Joe gone?

Oh where, oh where can he be?

He still thinks that he’s leading the pack, but,

Oh where, oh where can he be?

arhymes 4

My rendition of “Lazy Mary will you get up?” for Amy Klobuchar.

Lamey Amy, won’t you give up,

Won’t you give up, won’t you give up?

Lamey Amy, won’t you give up,

So early in the run-ning?

No, dear socialists, I won’t give up,

I won’t give up, I won’t give up.

No, dear socialists I won’t give up,

So early in the run-ning.

arhymes 7

And we can’t forget Mayor Pete!  Read to “Little Bo Peep.”

Ex-Mayor Pete has lost the blacks

And doesn’t know where to find them.

If he leaves them alone

They’ll never come home

And he won’t any more elections.

Ex-Mayor Pete, he searched for the blacks

But didn’t quite know how to find them.

He looked everywhere

From here and to there

But still couldn’t get them to vote for him.

Ex-Mayor Pete began to weep

And lay down to rest for a while

He fell fast asleep

While counting is black sheep

Then dreamt they came home with a smile.

I hope you enjoyed this second edition of MrEricksonRules’ “Swampy” Nursey Rhymes!

Stay tuned for my third edition in the near future.  I’m working on more good ones already!

WINNING!

What would the world be like without The United States of America?

Imagine if you will, a world without The United States of America.

awash 14

The world would definitely be quite different today without The United States of America.

Who knows how Britain, France, Spain, and then Mexico would have carved up North America.

Would Hitler have ever been stopped?

Would the Jewish people have been completely exterminated?

Would anyone have gotten in the way of Soviet Union, spreading communism around the world?

Would Christianity have been squashed?

It’s definitely very interesting to ponder what our world would be like if The United States had never come into existence.

And there would not have been a United States, as we have come to know it, without one man.

George Washington.

awash 9

As President’s Day and George Washington’s Birthday approaches, I would like to give George Washington his due.

George Washington has been called “the father of our nation.”

That is definitely true…, but he was much, much, much, more.

George Washington was an AMAZING man.

awash 1

He deserves our attention and our admiration, without a doubt.

George Washington had a strong moral character and he was considered a person of impeccable character.

“He is polite with dignity, affable without formality, distant without haughtiness, grave without austerity; modest, wise and good,” observed Abigail Adams, the wife of Washington’s vice president, John Adams.

Washington’s lofty reputation was upheld by his actions. He refused to be paid for commanding the Continental Army, only requesting to be reimbursed for expenses, and he resigned his military commission after his popularity surged at the close of The Revolution, putting his allegiance to the republic ahead of a desire for personal gain.

Washington was impressive in stature and in presence, as well.

awash 10

As befitting a military hero, and make no mistake he was a hero in every sense of the word, Washington cut a formidable presence. A contemporary in the 1750s described him as “measuring six feet two inches in his stockings and weighing 175 pounds.  His frame is padded with well-developed muscles, indicating great strength.” The admirer also praised Washington’s “commanding countenance,” as well as his “graceful” and “majestic” movements.

By the time he became president, the 57-year-old Washington was certainly less agile but even more imposing at upwards of 200 pounds.

Let’s take a closer look at George Washington.

George Washington was born at his father’s plantation on Popes Creek in Westmoreland County, Virginia, on February 22, 1732.

To put this into perspective, The Mayflower first arrived with the Pilgrims in 1620…, so George Washington was born about a hundred years or so after that.

His father’s name was Augustine and he ran a very successful plantation in the area.

George’s mother was his father’s second wife.  Her name was Mary.

George had two older half-brothers, three younger brothers and two younger sisters.

Growing up, George Washington’s family owned a lot of property, but they were still not considered “rich” for the times.

When George was eleven years old, his father died, leaving most of his property to George’s older half-brothers. The income from what remained was just enough to maintain Mary Washington and her children. As the oldest child remaining at home, George undoubtedly helped his mother manage the Rappahannock River plantation where they lived. There he learned the importance of working hard and working smart.

Unlike many of his contemporaries, George never attended college or received a formal education. To augment his studies, George taught himself through reading and experimentation.

Sounds a lot like Abraham Lincoln, doesn’t it?

Arguably, the two most important men in American history never even went to school, much less college.

Again…, amazing.

Before the age of sixteen, George Washington copied out the 110 rules covered in “The Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior.” This exercise, now regarded as a formative influence in the development of his character, included guidelines for behavior and general courtesies.

Eager for adventure, George wanted to join the British Navy, but his mother refused to let him. Instead, he accompanied a man named Fairfax as a surveyor to the unexplored wilderness of the Virginia frontier.

Had George been allowed to join the British Navy, there probably would not have been a United States of America. Thank you for that Mrs. Washington, and it’s a good thing George listened to his mother!

At seventeen years of age and largely through the Fairfax influence that he had cultivated, George secured an appointment as county surveyor for the newly created Virginia frontier county of Culpeper.

In the fall of 1753, the Governor of Virginia, Robert Dinwiddie sent 21-year-old Major George Washington to deliver a message to the French, who were creeping South and encroaching on Virginia’s territory, demanding they leave the area. With the help of a frontier guide and local Indians, Washington reached the French fort, Le Boeuf, with Dinwiddie’s message. The return trip tested Washington’s endurance. He hiked for days through snowy woods, fell off a raft into the ice-choked Allegheny River, nearly drowned, and was forced to spend a freezing night on an island without shelter. His guide, an experienced backwoodsman, suffered frostbite; but Washington suffered no ill effects. Washington’s account of the arduous 900-mile journey was published by Governor Dinwiddie in both Williamsburg and London, establishing an international reputation for George Washington by the time he was 22.

awash 2

Washington was next given command of Virginia’s entire military force. With a few hundred men he was ordered to protect a frontier some 350 miles long. Although this was a frustrating assignment, it provided him with experience in commanding troops through an arduous campaign. In 1758 the British finally took the forks of the Ohio. Peace returned to Virginia, and Washington resigned his commission to return to Mount Vernon, his duty faithfully performed.

On January 6th, 1759, Washington married Martha Dandridge Custis, a charming and vivacious young woman.

Martha Washington joined her husband in his winter quarters every year of the war. Together they entertained his officers and guests. A patriot in her own right, Mrs. Washington made it her war too, nursing sick and wounded soldiers and raising money for the troops.

The first time George Washington ran for public office, he lost.

Who’d he lose to would be my question?!  That must have been one hell of a guy!

However, he won his second race and served in the Virginia House of Burgesses (Representatives) from 1758 until 1776.

George Washington spent the years between 1759 and 1775 farming at Mount Vernon.  By the time he died in 1799, he had expanded the plantation from 2,000 to 8,000 acres consisting of five farms, with more than 3,000 acres under cultivation.

In June of 1775, Congress commissioned George Washington to take command of the Continental Army.  He wrote home to Martha that he expected to return safely to her in the fall. This command eventually kept him away from Mount Vernon for more than 8 years!

I think most people have the impression that The Revolution was won by 1776…, but that’s not the case.  The American Revolution from Britain was not decided for 8 years…, not until 1783.

It was a command for which his military background, although greater than that of any of the other available candidates, hardly prepared him. His knowledge lay in frontier warfare, involving relatively small numbers of soldiers. He had no practical experience maneuvering large formations, handling cavalry or artillery, or maintaining supply lines adequate to support thousands of men in the field. He learned on the job; and although his army reeled from one misfortune to another, he had the courage, determination, and mental agility to keep the American cause one step ahead of complete disintegration until he figured out how to win the unprecedented revolutionary struggle he was leading.

His task was not overwhelming at first. The British position in Boston was indefensible, and in March 1776 they withdrew from the city. But it was only a temporary respite.

In June a new bigger and badder British army, under the command of Sir William Howe, arrived in the colonies with orders to take New York City. Howe commanded the largest expeditionary force Britain had ever sent overseas.

Defending New York was almost impossible. An island city, New York is surrounded by a maze of waterways that gave a substantial advantage to an attacker with naval superiority. Howe’s army was larger, better equipped, and far better trained than Washington’s. They defeated Washington’s army at Long Island in August and routed the Americans a few weeks later at Kip’s Bay, resulting in the loss of the city. Forced to retreat northward, Washington was defeated again at White Plains. The American defense of New York City came to a humiliating conclusion on November 16, 1776, with the surrender of Fort Washington and some 2,800 men. Washington ordered his army to retreat across New Jersey. The remains of his forces, mud-soaked and exhausted, crossed the Delaware River into Pennsylvania on December 7.

It was not looking good, to say the least, for Washington and the dying dream of a free country.

Washington and his rag-tag bunch of upstarts were facing, unquestionably, the best military there was in the world.

awash 4

Let’s also not forget that many of Washington’s own countrymen were British loyalists as well.  This revolution against Britain was definitely not a unanimous effort.

No one at the time could have seriously thought Washington and his army had any real chance at all of defeating the British…, except Washington himself.

The British had good reason to believe that the American rebellion would be over in a few months and that Congress would seek peace rather than face complete subjugation of the colonies. The enlistments of most of Washington’s army were due to expire at the end of December. However, instead of crushing the remains of Washington’s army, Howe went into winter quarters, with advanced garrisons at Trenton and Princeton, leaving Washington open to execute one of the most daring military operations in American history.

awash 5

On Christmas night Washington’s troops crossed the Delaware and attacked the unsuspecting British garrison at Trenton, forcing it to surrender. A few days later Washington again crossed the Delaware, outmaneuvered the force sent to crush him, and fell on the enemy at Princeton, inflicting a humiliating loss on the British.

Next…, General Washington and his newfound French allies decided to strike at the British army under Cornwallis, which was camped at Yorktown, Virginia. Washington’s planning for the Battle of Yorktown was as bold as it had been for Trenton and Princeton but on a much larger scale. On October 19, 1781, he accepted the surrender of Cornwallis’ army. Although two more years passed before a peace treaty was completed, the victory at Yorktown effectively brought the Revolutionary War to an end.

To the world’s amazement (I told you he was amazing!), Washington had prevailed over the bigger, better supplied, and more experienced British army.

The truly “underdog” Americans had defeated the mighty British Empire.

On December 23, 1783, General Washington presented himself before Congress in Annapolis, Maryland, and resigned his commission. Like Cincinnatus, the hero of Classical Rome, whose conduct he most admired, Washington had the integrity and character to relinquish his power when he could have been crowned a king. He left Annapolis and went home to Mount Vernon with the intention of never again serving in public life.

This single act, without precedent in modern history, made him an international hero.

How many men would turn down an offer to be king?

Would you turn down an offer to be king or queen?

This goes to show you how revered and respected George Washington was.  The colonies had just got done fighting a war to gain their freedom from a king…, and now they were willing to entrust Washington completely with their future and install him as their new king.

Amazing.

Although Washington longed for a peaceful life at Mount Vernon, the affairs of the nation continued to command his attention. He watched with mounting dismay as this new “union” stumbled ahead.  By 1785 Washington had concluded that change was essential. What was needed, he wrote to James Madison, was an energetic Constitution.

In 1787, Washington ended his self-imposed retirement and traveled to Philadelphia to attend a convention assembled to recommend changes to the Articles of Confederation. He was unanimously chosen (you’ll hear this term again and again) to preside over the Constitutional Convention, a job that took four months. He spoke very little at the convention, but few delegates were more determined to devise a government endowed with real energy and authority.

“My wish,” he wrote, “is that the convention may adopt no temporizing expedients but probe the defects of the Constitution to the bottom and provide a radical cure.”

After the convention adjourned, Washington’s reputation and support were essential to overcome opposition to the ratification of the proposed Constitution. He worked for months to rally support for the new instrument of government. It was a difficult struggle. Even in Washington’s native Virginia, the Constitution was ratified by a majority of only one vote.

Once the Constitution was approved, Washington hoped to retire again to private life. But when the first presidential election was held, he received a vote from every elector.

He wasn’t even trying to get elected and he got elected…, by every elector!

He remains the only President in American history to be elected by the unanimous voice of the people.

George Washington was unanimously elected President of the United States…, twice.

Unanimously elected!

Like I said…, amazing.

awash 6

Washington served two terms as President. His first term (1789-1793) was occupied primarily with organizing the executive branch of the new government and establishing administrative procedures that would make it possible for the government to operate with the energy and efficiency he believed were essential to the republic’s future. An astute judge of talent, he surrounded himself with the most able men in the new nation. He appointed his former aide, Alexander Hamilton, as Secretary of the Treasury; Thomas Jefferson as Secretary of State; and his former artillery chief, Henry Knox, as Secretary of War.  James Madison was also one of his principal advisors.

In his First Inaugural Address, Washington confessed that he was unpracticed in the duties of civil administration; however, he was one of the most able administrators ever to serve as President. He administered the government with fairness and integrity, assuring Americans that the President could exercise extensive executive authority without corruption. Further, he executed the laws with restraint, establishing precedents for broad-ranging presidential authority. His integrity was without question.  Thomas Jefferson wrote, “His justice is the most inflexible I have ever known, no motive of interest or consanguinity [ancestry], friendship, or hatred, being able to bias his decision.” Washington set a standard for presidential integrity rarely met by his successors, although he established an ideal by which they all are judged.

Growing partisanship within the government also concerned Washington. Washington despised political partisanship but could do little to slow the development of political parties.

Again, he demonstrated his wisdom and his purity of intention.

George was Godly man.  He believed America existed because of God’s will, and that it could not survive without God’s continued influence.

awash 3

He wasn’t concerned with personal power or any other ulterior motives.  His only concern was doing what he felt was best for his country.  Other people recognized this, and his intentions could not be questioned.  That is why he commanded such respect.

During his first term Washington toured the northern and southern states and found that the new government enjoyed the general support of the American people. Convinced that the government could get along without him, he planned to step down at the end of his first term. But his cabinet members convinced him that he alone could command the respect of members of both burgeoning political parties. Thomas Jefferson visited Washington at Mount Vernon to urge him to accept a second term. Although longing to return home permanently, Washington reluctantly agreed.

Washington’s second term (1793-1797) was dominated by foreign affairs and marred by a deepening partisanship in his own administration. One of Washington’s most important accomplishments was keeping the United States out of war, giving the new nation an opportunity to grow in strength while establishing the principle of neutrality that shaped American foreign policy for more than a century.

Washington’s Farewell Address helped to summarize many of Washington’s strongest held beliefs about what it would take to sustain and grow the young nation that he helped found.

Finally retired from public service, George and Martha Washington returned to their beloved Mount Vernon. Unfortunately for Washington, his time at the estate would be short lived.

On Thursday, December 12, 1799, George recognized the onset of a sore throat and became increasingly hoarse. Only two days later, between ten and eleven at night on December 14, 1799, George Washington passed away from some sort of throat infection.  He was surrounded by people who were close to him including his wife who sat at the foot of his bed.

So there you have it…, the amazing life of an amazing man…, George Washington.

General George Washington.

President George Washington.

awash 7

Although I believe he would have just been happy to have been recognized as a gentleman and a loyal American citizen.

So, what do you think now?  Do you agree with me that there would not have been a United States, as we have come to know it, without George Washington?

I don’t think you can help but agree.

We were very blessed to have George on our team…, and God on our side!

Quick!  Somebody help “Oscar!”  He’s fallen and he can’t get up!

According to Brian Flood of Fox News, “Politically charged [2020] Oscars hit all-time low rating, plummet almost 6 million viewers from 2019.”

aoscars 10

If I had to guess, all of the “red carpet” pregame shows probably did better than the awards show itself.

My wife likes to see all of the stars and what they’re wearing…, so I got sucked into watching this year…, and then I decided to roll right into the awards show and give it another chance.  I have declined watching The Oscars the last few years because of all of the anti-Trump nonsense.

The opening dance routine was pretty lame, in my opinion.  The girl who came out doing the Mr. Rogers thing obviously didn’t rehearse much.  First, she couldn’t get her jacket off, then she couldn’t hang it up, then her shirt became unbuttoned, then she couldn’t get the sweater on and then she couldn’t button the sweater.

And it was all downhill after that!

The segment with Steve Martin and Chris Rock was really pretty funny, and I was beginning to have hope that this might not be too bad after all.

But the Hollywood idiots just couldn’t resist and they didn’t waste any time.

The very first award for Best Supporting Actor went to Brad Pitt, and he felt it was necessary to make some remark about John Bolton and the Senate, and then something about “the adults in the room” doing something…, and that was it…, “click, click, click,” and I was off watching something else.

aoscars 8

What is with all of this denigrating lecturing?!

Do you think you’re Barack Obama or something, Brad?

My 2020 Oscar experience didn’t last very long…, and I probably won’t even try again in the future.

“ABC’s politically charged Oscar telecast averaged [only] 23.6 million viewers on Sunday night, the smallest audience ever, according to The Hollywood Reporter (THR).”

aoscars 4

“THR noted that total was ‘well below the 29.56 million and 7.7 for last year’s awards,’ and down 20 percent in year-to-year viewers.”

“The lengthy, host-less broadcast fell almost 2 million viewers short of the previous all-time low, when the Oscars averaged 26.54 million viewers back in 2018.”

“The Oscars featured several winners injecting politics into the Academy Awards, starting with the telecast’s first famous victor, Brad Pitt, who took a shot at Republican senators who voted against calling witnesses at President Trump’s impeachment trial.”

‘“They told me I only have 45 seconds up here, which is 45 seconds more than the Senate gave John Bolton this week,’ Pitt said. ‘I’m thinking maybe Quentin [Tarantino] does a movie about it. In the end, the adults do the right thing.’”

“Pitt was not the only actor to politicize his comments as Joaquin Phoenix used his lengthy, emotional best actor acceptance speech to discuss, among other things, the state of humanity, and the plight of cows.”

aoscars 7

I actually have no problem with anyone denouncing animal cruelty…, but the rest of it can go.  Can we just say thank you for the award, say thank you to who you need to thank, and let the show go on?

We really don’t care about anything you have to say.

Really…, we don’t.

aoscars 2

“Even socialist revolutionary Karl Marx was mentioned in a speech by Julia Reichert, the co-director of the Barack and Michelle Obama-produced best feature-length documentary winner ‘American Factory.’”

Oh…, that figures!

I believe Oscar fell and broke a hip this year…, and he won’t be getting back up.

How can we start “turning back the clock”…, on the “debt clock” that is?

What I’m referring to here is the National Debt, and how we could possibly, at least, slow down the pace as this debt grows higher and higher by the minute.

adebt 1

adebt 1

You can check out the “Debt Clock” at https://www.usdebtclock.org/

The speed at which OUR debt grows is really sickening.

Our debt currently grows at a rate of about 3.5 billion dollars a day.

adebt 4

adebt 5

And we waste a sickening amount of our money paying off the interest on our debt alone.

So what can we do about this situation?

The answer is currently, not much.

Historically, politicians are not known for being fiscally responsible.

After all, they’re not spending their own money…, they’re spending ours!

adebt 6

And proposing to reduce the spending, or even reduce the rate of growth, on entitlement programs is usually a “kiss of death” regarding their re-election.

adebt 3

But the bottom line is something needs to be done about the national debt eventually.

I mean, how large are we going to let it grow before it becomes unacceptable?

$50 trillion?

$75 trillion?

$100 trillion?

What comes after $999 trillion?

A quadrillion dollars.

The fact that I’m even “going there” is scary.

Please refer to my blog from March 20, 2019:  Our national debt is a national disgrace!  https://mrericksonrules.com/2019/03/20/our-national-debt-is-a-national-disgrace/

So again, what can we do about this situation?

President Trump, by virtue of his 2020 Budget, is signaling that he wants the federal government to be more fiscally responsible and more debt conscious.

adebt 8

I have a suggestion, however, that I haven’t heard anyone else talk about yet.

We all know that President Trump is all about deal making.

I would like to see President Trump include portions of our National Debt as bargaining chips in his negotiations with other countries.

adebt 9

President Trump could “trade” military protection, economic considerations, or any other types of “consideration” in return for forgiveness and/or assumption of some our National Debt.

I feel this would be the most painless way to actually start putting a dent into our National Debt without cutting programs or raising taxes.

And as with all loans…, what is the best way to attack your debt?

By paying down the principal!

That, of course, lowers your actual debt, first of all…, but it then also lowers the amount of interest you’re paying.

adebt 10

It’s a win-win-win situation…, and we don’t see many of those types of situations very often.

What do you think?

I value your feedback and I’d love to hear from you!

Lies, lies, lies…, all we get are lies from the democrats!

Politics and lying go hand-in-hand…, but the democrats have taken their lying to a whole new level!

aliars 10

They all seem to just lie at the drop of a hat now, and without any fear of reprisal.

They actually seem to be living in an alternative reality.

aliars 1

It’s really quite insane.

You want some examples?

Ok…, here you go.

Regarding her tearing up President Trump’s State of the Union Address, Nancy Pelosi recently said, “I tore up a manifesto of mistruths,” at her weekly press briefing.

aliars 13

Her statement, of course, was not questioned at all by the fake news media there.

Had I been in the audience, I would have attempted to ask, “A manifesto of mistruths?  What exactly in The President’s speech would you classify as a “mistruth,” Speaker Pelosi?

Wouldn’t that seem to be reasonable and appropriate question?

And I never even went to journalism school!

The fact is there were NO mistruths in his speech (please feel free to point anything you feel is a “mistruth” to me, although multiple instances should be required since she is referring to “mistruths” with an “s”)…, but Mrs. Pelosi is allowed to recklessly characterize his speech this way without any attempt to force her to justify or back-up her claim.

aliars 11

Then we have Representative Adam Schiff.

aliars 7

aliars 2

Mr. Schiff has lied continually, over the last three years, regarding “Russian collusion” and the Mueller Report, and then during the impeachment hoax “hearings.”

Adam Schiff repeatedly claimed he had in his possession, “ample evidence of collusion in plain sight,” of President Trump’s collusion with Russia.

aliars 8

“The obstruction of justice, in particular in this case, is far worse than anything that Richard Nixon did,” Schiff said, adding, “I would say in every way this is more significant than Watergate.”

I guess Robert Mueller did not quite agree with you, Mr. Schiff.

aliars 21

I’m sure Robert Mueller and his team of “witch hunters” would have been more than happy to charge The President with ANY wrong doing IF they could have found ANY…, after over two years of investigation and spending thirty plus million dollars.

Then during the sham Congressional impeachment “hearings,” Adam Schiff totally misrepresented President Trump by reading supposed excerpts from The President’s call with the president of Ukraine.

The only problem was President Trump then released the actual transcript of the call, showing Adam Schiff to be completely lying about what The President said.

aliars 25

aliars 3

aliars 5

Schiff routinely accused The President of treason, bribery and extortion, as if they were common knowledge…, but these allegations quickly evaporated and were replaced with innocuous claims of “abuse of power” and “obstruction of Congress.”

aliars 16

aliars 14

And during the trial in the Senate, Adam Schiff continuously misrepresented matters of opinion as matters of fact without blinking an eye.

Again, as in the case with Nancy Pelosi, none of Schiff’s claims are questioned at all by the fake news media.

These are just a couple examples from the parade of liberal liars.

Let’s not forget about Chuck Schumer, Jerry Nadler, Comey, Clapper, Brennan, the Clintons, Obama, Biden, Lynch, Rice, and on and on and on.

Liar, liars and more liars.  And this is only a short list.  A very short list!

aliars 19

aliars 22

With political “watchdogs” like the fake news media, it’s like hiring a fox to guard the hen house or a wolf to protect the sheep!

aliars 18

aliars 17

aliars 6

It’s a good thing that most Americans don’t consider themselves to be “sheep,” and don’t depend on the fake news media for their news or even expect a fair shake from the liberal propaganda fake news.

Winning!

Is “Climate Change” really the issue?

Did you notice that over that last 5-10 years the cries of “Global Warming” have morphed into cries of “Climate Change?”

Why is that?

Could it be because “Climate Change” can’t be denied?

aclimate 10

It’s like complaining about the Sun disappearing for half of the day.  You may not like it, but there’s nothing you can do about it.

It’s the same with “Climate Change.”

You may not like it, but there’s nothing you can do about it.

The biggest shams being perpetrated on the citizens of the Earth is that humans have caused “Climate Change” and that humans can do anything about “Climate Change.”

aclimate 12

The Earth’s overall climate changes based on many global and solar factors, way above and way beyond any effect humans may have on the planet.

We have seen many doomsday scenarios over the years, ranging from over-population to a coming ice age, then to global warming.

These false alarms have more to do with the government’s desire for control over a population willing to hand over its rights in order to “save itself” than it does any real environmental concern.

aclimate 7

aclimate 6

These alarmists always point to their all-knowing “scientists” and “science” as their foundational defense.

They cry, “You can’t deny science!”

Umm…, well…

May I remind you that it was “scientists” who believed at one time that the sun revolved around the earth, and that the earth was flat, and that if you didn’t agree you were put to death?

May I remind you that it was “scientists” who believed at one time that we were entering a new ice age…, which is a complete 180 from what they are predicting now?

For how many years were we told there was no water on the moon, only to find out now there is a lot of water on the moon?

For how many years were we told that the Sun was the basis for all life on the earth, only then to discover lifeforms on the bottom of the ocean living in complete darkness which use chemical reactions as a basis for life?

These are all pretty big things that “science” was totally wrong about.

Just sayin’.

According to Chris Ciaccia of Fox News, “A startling message on a 1,200-year-old granite slab created by the Vikings appears to predict climate change, experts say.”

aclimate 2

aclimate 3

Here we go with “experts,” again.

I guess the Vikings realized that predicting climate change was as safe a bet as predicting the weather would change.

aclimate 8

And guess what?

There weren’t any cars or factories back then.

So how could climate change be possible without humans causing it?

Socialist wannabe, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, among others, claim we have ten years to “save the earth” before we all perish.

aclimate 5

aclimate 11

aclimate 4

I am publicly going on record right now that I will match ANY bet that AOC is dead wrong.

In fact, in AOC’s honor, I’ll throw in an extra 5 years!

I’m saying the earth will still be here, just like it is right now, 15 years from now, in 2035.

If you’d like to place a wager against me, just comment your name, address, and amount. (No wagers less than $1,000 please)

Are you willing to put your money where your mouth is?

If you’re right…, neither of us have anything to lose!

If I’m right…, and I am…, I could end up being a little richer!

On a side bet…, I bet none of these liberal alarmists will be brave enough to risk any of their own money…, which tells you all you need to know!

Like President Trump said, “What the hell do you have to lose?!

WINNING!

Iowa is the new “whipping boy” for the democrats!

First of all, what’s a “whipping boy?”

A “whipping boy” is “a person who is blamed or punished for the faults or incompetence of others.”

Bingo!

Within a span of 24 hours the democrat party of Iowa and Iowa democrats in general went from being the esteemed representatives of liberal idealism and process to being a bunch of incompetent racists!

acaucuses 1

acaucuses 11

And all at the hands of their own co-conspirators…, the biased, liberal propaganda, fake news media!

acaucuses 10

The “establishment” democrats didn’t mind piling on either.\

acaucuses 5

It was amazing how quickly the Iowa democrats were thrown under the bus!

A round of denouncing their incompetence quickly deteriorated into questioning why Iowa is “allowed” to be the first primary state anyway…, especially since “Iowa isn’t representative of the country…,” racially speaking.

I have learned that Iowa is more than 90% white.

Well we might as well let the Ku Klux Klan pick the democrat nominee from Iowa!

Where were all of these racial concerns before the caucus debacle?

acaucuses 6

I’ve seen numerous commentators of color, on CNN and MSNBC, bad-mouthing the unenlightened, “whitey,” Iowa democrat voters.

Please explain to me again exactly who the racists are here?

I saw where African-Americans had a “beat whitey night” at the Iowa State Fair…, so I guess you could say they’re making progress!

acaucuses 3

acaucuses 2

And now they’re all onto New Hampshire, where only 94% of the people are racist whiteys!

I’m sure the media will figure this out shortly and begin the racial attack on New Hampshire as well.

I have a funny feeling that by the time the 2024 election rolls around, Iowa and New Hampshire will no longer be the first two states up in the presidential primaries.

Just sayin’.
