Bruce Springsteen is just another confused and misguided tool of the anti-American leftists in this country.

Bruce Springsteen made millions of dollars bragging about how he was “Born in the USA” and “Born to Run,” back in the day.

Nowadays, I’m sure his songs would be titled “Proud to be an illegal in the USA” and “Born to whine!”

According to David Montanaro of Fox News, “Rock legend Bruce Springsteen took aim at President Trump in a new interview Friday, saying the president doesn’t ‘grasp’ the meaning of being an American.”

Oh, yes, please, Bruce…, your “legendness…,” enlighten us with your wisdom!

“In an interview on ‘CBS This Morning,’ host Gayle King asked Springsteen about a recent Trump rally in which the president bragged that his election victory in 2016 was accomplished without the support of celebrities like Springsteen, Beyoncé and Jay-Z.”

‘“You surprised that he’s trash-talking you after all this time?’ King asked.”

First of all…, how is that “trash-talking,” Gayle?

That’s not “trash-talking,” that just stating a fact.

‘“Not really. Anything’s possible,’ the New Jersey musician responded.”

Obviously not pleased with his level of “anti-Trumpness,” she decides to stoke the fire.

“King noted that ‘a lot of people are very concerned about the direction of the country,’ with Springsteen agreeing that it’s a ‘very frightening time’ in America.”

There we go, Gayle…, now that’s more like what you were looking for…, right?

Oh wait…, there’s more!

‘“The stewardship of the nation has been thrown away to somebody who doesn’t have a clue as to what that means. And unfortunately, we have somebody who I feel doesn’t have a grasp of the deep meaning of what it means to be an American [Springsteen added].’”

Yes, Bruce…, I‘d have to agree that it is definitely a “frightening time in America…,” what with all of these millions of illegal and undocumented people flooding into our country on a weekly basis, into sanctuary cities that protect them from being held accountable for any crimes they may commit. And then we end up paying for their Healthcare and Welfare on top of it. Then we have the whole freedom of speech issue as well as the freedom of thought issue being threatened by all of your tolerant friends. Ya…, it’s pretty frightening alright.

And it’s pretty presumptuous to believe that you know what it means to “be an American” better than anyone else does.

Wow.

Does Springsteen ever listen to himself and then think about what his people, the democrats, liberals, ANTIFA and the fake news media practice on a daily basis?

The Democrats’ messaging is not inclusive…, it’s divisive.

Their whole mission in this country is to divide and conquer.

The Obama puppet, Susan (weasel fried) Rice, is back in the news!

I would like to begin by saying that NOT having to see her or listen to her (as well as her misguided boss) on a regular basis is one one of the great joys of my life right now.

That being said, there’s no denying that Susan Rice is quite an accomplished liar…, but you also have to admit that she is a very loyal accomplished liar.

It was quite obvious that she faithfully repeated only that which her sugar daddy, Barack Obama, desired. And she was quite talented at repeating this stuff, over and over again, with a straight face.

On a recent podcast, hosted by two former Obama advisors, Susan Rice called Senator Lindsey Graham “a piece of sh#t.”

Well…, like the old adage says, “It takes one to know one, Susan!”

In any event her statement is her opinion…, and your opinion cannot be considered a lie!

Congratulations, Susan!

This might be the first genuinely honest statement to make its way out of your mouth!

“Stupid is as stupid does…,” and stupid is as stupid says as well, regarding these crazy, double-talking democrats!

By definition, a “lynching” is “a mob killing someone, especially by hanging, for an alleged offense with or without a legal trial.”

According to Joseph A. Wulfsohn of Fox News, “President Trump draws fire for calling impeachment inquiry ‘a lynching.’”

I’m sorry Mr. Wulfson, but isn’t your headline a little redundant?

I mean, is there anything The President has said that didn’t “draw fire” from democrats and their partners in crime, the fake news media?

Anyway…, moving on…

“[President] Trump’s ‘lynching’ tweet provokes strong reactions; chief White House correspondent John Roberts reports.”

So all of these liberals are denying President Trump the right to identify as someone who is being lynched?

By definition, I would have to say that President Trump’s remarks, about the democrats’ attempt to impeach him being a “lynching,” are exactly on the mark.

The democrats are trying “to kill” his reputation and presidency, without actually voting to begin the impeachment process, while holding secret witness hearings, without allowing The President’s defense team to defend him or cross examine the witnesses, which is without precedent.

This is most definitely unfair to say the least, and most probably unconstitutional and illegal.

The word “lynching” does not have to carry racist undertones with it. The definition of “lynching,” according to Merriam-Webster, makes no mention of slaves, slavery, Blacks, or African-Americans in its definition at all. Democrats just want us to perceive it that way, as they do, through their racially divisive lenses.

Many people, of all races, cultures and religions, in our country’s past, have been lynched while being accused of committing various crimes.

Holding a democrats’ feet to the fire is not like you at all! “Sleepy, creepy Uncle” Joe must be falling out of favor among the “biased, liberal propaganda, fake news media” and the fascist liberal powers that be.

Here we go again with claims of “phantom” future evidence against The President!

For over two years we heard from the democrats about how Robert “the clueless tool” Mueller was going to destroy President Trump.

They spent 30-40 million dollars, issued over 2,500 subpoenas, and came up with NOTHING!

NOTHING!

We heard daily from the “biased, liberal propaganda, fake news media” about all of this other evidence that was going to surface, which never did. NOTHING!

NOTHING!

We heard regularly from “shifty” Adam Schiff, and how he had all of this evidence showing criminal activity against The President, which never managed to make an appearance. NOTHING!

NOTHING!

Now we have another baseless, bogus investigation of The President and his call with the Ukrainian president, and we have another liberal liar, making libelous claims about supposed criminal activity, and referring to “evidence,” which in reality is nothing but wishful thinking.

According to Joshua Nelson of Fox News, “President Trump ‘committed a crime by soliciting the Ukraine government to get involved in the U.S. election,’ the former DNC Chairman and Pennsylvania Governor, ‘Mister Ed’ Rendell told ‘America’s Newsroom.’”

Your level of confusion is impressive “Mister Ed!”

President Trump was referring to events that occurred prior to the 2016 election, not about events leading up to the 2020 election.

‘“I think we got to watch what rolls out in the next month or so. I think there’s more evidence to come and I think as the evidence rolls out, it’s going to become more and more clear that the president not only broke the law here but he abused his power at the detriment of the United States of America,’ Rendell said.”

Yes, “Mister Ed,” you do have to “watch what rolls out in the next month or so,” because that’s all you have to pin your hopes on!

NOTHING has managed to “roll out” so far!

NOTHING!

“I think as the evidence rolls out, it’s going to become more and more clear that the president not only broke the law here but he abused his power.”

WHERE, AND HOW MANY TIMES, HAVE WE HEARD THAT LINE BEFORE!!!

I swear…, the democrats must really think we’re all idiots.

On a related note…, “House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., called [‘Shifty’ Adam] Schiff a ‘patriot.’”

The first question that comes to mind is a “patriot” for what country? The People’s Republic of California? Certainly not The United States of America.

“The intelligence committee chairman [‘Shifty’ Adam Schiff] has admitted he should have been clearer about his contact with the ‘whistleblower’ who filed a complaint about Trump’s July phone call with the Ukrainian president.”

Which really means he should have been more careful so as not to have been caught!

“Schiff [then] recited what he later called a ‘parody’ reading of ‘the call’ at a House hearing, drawing harsh criticism from Republicans.”

This “parody,” as he now calls his comments before a congressional hearing, were never prefaced as such. We were led to believe Schiff was quoting what the President had said on the call. That was until The President released an actual transcript of the call, forcing “Shifty” Adam Schiff to eat his words.

Words must not have many calories…, because Congressman Schiff has been eating a lot of his words lately…, and yet he is still so skinny!

Hey…, whatever happened to that huge hole in the ozone layer that was threatening life on Earth as we know it?

I haven’t heard much about it lately.

It must not be fitting in with the current “end of the world” “climate change” narrative.

Let’s see.

According to Chris Ciaccia of Fox News, ‘“Ozone hole is the smallest on record,’ NASA says.”

“Smallest on record?!”

Why haven’t we heard more about this?!

Another case of liberal propaganda by omission I would suspect.

NASA also says this is due to a “rare” event, however.

Ahhhhh, the predictable disclaimer whenever “good news” needs to be tempered in order to not harm the existing narrative!

“Unusual weather patterns in the upper atmosphere over Antarctica have caused a drastic reduction in ozone depletion, leaving the ozone with the smallest hole seen since its discovery in 1982, according to NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.”

First of all…, the ozone hole wasn’t even discovered until 1982!

That means we have a whopping 37 years of ozone hole history and thousands of years, or millions of years, or billions of years (depending on your belief of the age of the Earth) where we have no idea about the condition of an ozone hole, or if there even was one.

Let’s just go ahead and say that NASA has no scientific idea about what is normal and what isn’t, in regards to the ozone hole.

“Government agencies said that the hole had shrunk to 3.9 million square miles for the remainder of September and October, according to satellite data. The peak in the hole was 6.3 million square miles, observed on Sept. 8. During normal weather conditions, the hole is usually around 8 million square miles during this time of year.”

‘“It’s great news for ozone in the Southern Hemisphere,’ said Paul Newman, chief scientist for Earth Sciences at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in a statement on NASA’s website. ‘But it’s important to recognize that what we’re seeing this year is due to warmer stratospheric temperatures. It’s not a sign that atmospheric ozone is suddenly on a fast track to recovery.’”

Time out.

I’m sorry Mr. Newman, but “it’s important to recognize” that you and your friends really have no idea what anything is “due” to, or what is causing what, or what’s “normal” and what isn’t.

“The ozone layer is approximately 7 to 25 miles above the Earth’s surface and acts as a ‘sunscreen’ for the planet, NASA added. It keeps out harmful ultraviolet radiation from the Sun that has been linked to skin cancer, cataracts, immune system suppression and can also cause damage to plants.”

“The hole over the Antarctic forms during the Southern Hemisphere’s late winter as the Sun’s rays start to cause ozone-depleting reactions. This involves chlorine and bromine from man-made objects being released into the stratosphere which then destroys the molecules in the ozone.”

‘“It’s a rare event that we’re still trying to understand,’ said Susan Strahan, an atmospheric scientist. ‘If the warming hadn’t happened, we’d likely be looking at a much more typical ozone hole.’”

Again, I’m sorry Ms. Strahan, but you really don’t have a clue about what “a typical ozone hole” is really, or what we’d be looking at based on anything happening. The only thing you said that I believe is, “we’re still trying to understand.”

You just go ahead and keep on trying.

“The 1987 Montreal Protocol was enacted after scientists disturbingly found a hole in the ozone over Antarctica and Australia in 1985. It was enacted by the United Nations Environment Program. Former U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan said it was ‘perhaps the single most successful international agreement to date’ and it has been widely regarded as successful, with the ozone continuing to recover each year.”

Again…, and again, I’m sorry, but why did these scientists find the ozone hole “disturbing?”

They had no prior data to work with.

Perhaps the hole was alarmingly small compared to the prior 10,000 years?

They didn’t know.

They had no historical data to point to.

It was just another “The sky is falling!” environmental whacko alarm, intent on attacking America’s way of life, even though we are not anywhere near the biggest environmental offenders.

Just as with ocean pollution, China has been found to be the major culprit damaging the ozone layer with the continued use of illegal gases.

“In May 2018, a startling study revealed that there was an ‘unexpected and persistent increase’ of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) in the atmosphere. At the time, scientists could not pinpoint the exact location of the polluting and ozone-depleting gas, but subsequent media reports suggested that the clues lead to a rural industrial town in China.”

“Now, a new study confirms that the rise in CFCs, to the tune of 7,000 metric tons, is indeed coming from northeastern China based on atmospheric observations.”

“In a statement provided to Fox News, acting Head of UN Environment Joyce Msuya said: ‘Action is being taken by all parties at the international level and by China domestically. Additional scientific research is being done to pinpoint the sources and possible illegal uses of the CFC-11. Given the large amount of emissions, all parties appreciate the urgency to ensure the ongoing protection of the Ozone Layer. This is a priority for the UN Environment Program.’”

Believe me, the only action being taken by China is figuring out how they can avoid being detected in the future.

These diplomats are either extremely gullible or extremely stupid.

Tell me again what the UN has ever really accomplished?

I guess it’s good that we have a forum (the UN) where communication at least exists between all countries…, but that’s about it.

One hundred ninety-seven countries, including the U.S. under former President Ronald Reagan and China, are signatories of the Montreal Protocol.

For many of these countries, and especially China, these agreements aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on, however.

“Moveon.org” is just another liberal lie and misrepresentation!

A domain name that ends in “.org” was originally intended for non-profit organizations, but this restriction has not been enforced. The domain is commonly used by schools and communities, but also by some for-profit entities.

Leave it to the liberals to bastardize this system in their own interests as well.

From Moveon.org’s own website:

Are you starting to get an idea of how this works?

There’s two organizations operating under the same website…, but only one of them is a tax exempt 501)(c) organization.

How convenient.

I’m sure if we’d look at their pathetic attempt at keeping accurate accounting records, we’d see that somehow over 90% of the money flowing in somehow ends up on the tax exempt side.

From the IRS.gov website:

“The promotion of social welfare does not include direct or indirect participation or intervention in political campaigns on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office. However, a section 501(c)(4) social welfare organization may engage in some political activities, so long as that is not its primary activity. It’s interesting how these regulations are worded. There always seems to be elements that could be open for interpretation. This allows “the swampers” at the IRS the wiggle room to hang conservative groups out to dry while absolving liberal groups, like Moveon.org, of any wrong-doing.

I’m sorry to be so cynical, but it is what it is.

Let’s take a look at some of the “Petitions” and “Campaigns” that don’t “include direct or indirect participation or intervention in political campaigns on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office.”

What a motley crew (or “Libs Gone Wild!”): The 2020 Democrat presidential candidates!

Seriously?

This is the best group of candidates the democrats could come up with?

None of the current candidates conjure up any vision of them being “presidential,” with possible exception of Joe Biden.

I Predicted Hillary would run again in my blog, “I’m letting everyone know, again, that Hillary is going to run for President, again, in 2020.” from March 15, 2018, and that prediction is looking good, at least as a vice presidential candidate.

Anyway…, let’s take a look at the current crop of esteemed democrat presidential candidates, along with my official candidate classifications!

“On Life Support:” Kamala Harris and Corey Booker. They seem to get quite a bit of media coverage, although they have been polling at 5% or less. I believe the fact that they’re Black keeps them from falling into the next category.

“The Walking Dead:” Andrew Yang, Amy Klobuchar, Tulsi Gabbard, Julian Castro and Beto O’Rourke. This group consistently polls less than 5%. Beto and Julian are typically at 1% or less, yet I feel like Beto gets quite a bit of airtime. Why would anyone care about what he says one way of the other? Just sayin’.

Then we come to “The Cream of the Crappy Crop:” Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigieg. These four typically poll with at least 13%, with Biden and Warren usually over 20%.

If Hillary doesn’t jump back into the race, or somebody else doesn’t jump into the race, one of these four will be the democrat presidential candidate for the 2020 presidential election.

I’m sorry…, let’s get back to looking at the top 4 democrat presidential candidates.

Drumroll please…:

Number four…, Mayor Pete Buttigieg. Of the top four, Mayor Pete is probably the most reasonable, policy-wise. But is a small town mayor really ready to run our country? Are we really ready for our “first lady” to be a man? I don’t think so.

Number three…, Senator Bernie Sanders. “Crazy” Bernie identifies as an “Independent” in The Senate, but he’s running for president as a democrat. We knew he was a democrat all along. Why was he misrepresenting himself the whole time? He was obviously being disingenuous. He seems like he’s a thousand years old, and he is not afraid to admit he’s a socialist at heart. Your time has passed Bern.

Number two (or 1B)…, Senator Elizabeth Warren. When I see her, she reminds me of a “bag lady” who is wearing her best clothes and left her cart(s) outside. Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren is carrying around a lot of racial baggage, along with a lot of cultural hijacking for reasons of personal gain. She is a woman, but will that be enough for women to hold their noses and actually vote for her? In the end, they may not have any other choice. She may be the democrat candidate by default.

Then we have number one (or 1A)…, former Senator and former Vice President Joe Biden…, another poster child for term limits and an “establishment” tool. “Sleepy, creepy, Uncle” Joe Biden is another guy who’s time has really passed. His only claim to fame is that he was Barack Obama’s vice president, but former President Obama won’t even endorse him! Plus Vice President Biden actually DID the things the democrats are trying to impeach President Trump for. He may also end-up being the democrat candidate by default.

Whoever is left standing, you can be sure they’ll have the complete and undivided support of the “biased, liberal propaganda, fake news media,” along with George Soros and all of the other wealthy “America haters.”

The Sierra Club says climate change deniers are more likely to be racists! Well, there’s killing two birds with one stone!

According to Heather Smith for SIERRA, The national magazine of the Sierra Club, “People who don’t believe that climate change is real are more likely to be old, more likely to be Republican, and more likely to be white.”

So you’re saying the smartest group among us don’t necessarily believe in all of this climate change mumbo jumbo?

Makes sense to me so far.

“They [the old, white, conservatives] are also more likely to have racist beliefs, according to a recent study published in the journal ‘Environmental Politics.’”

“Environmental Politics.” Now there’s a liberal rag of a magazine if ever I heard of one!

I take it they’re just assuming the racist part because we’re talking about white conservatives here.

I doubt they asked people in the study if they were racists or not.

Ms. Smith goes on to say, “This correlation is a relatively recent phenomenon—one that occurred in the wake of Barack Obama’s election in 2008.”

Oh, okay…, now I’m starting to get where this is going.

“The paper hypothesizes that, however moderate his actions, the mere existence of our first African American president dropping climate change into the State of the Union Address and joining the Paris climate accord correlates with a significant number of white Americans deciding that they were done believing in climate change.”

“This correlation has also been documented with regard to health-care reform—after the Obama administration made it a priority, a subset of white Americans who had supported the issue during the Clinton administration suddenly switched their position.”

This last claim is just a plain fabrication. Not many people supported government run health care at all during the Clinton years. That’s why they failed to implement it. ObamaCare was actually signed into law. I don’t think their argument stands up here.

Their racist claims regarding President Obama and climate change are way off base as well.

When are these liberals going to understand that conservatives didn’t care about the color of Obama’s skin…, it was HIS policies, and HIS racism that turned conservatives off.

“Political messaging with racist over- and undertones has been deployed relentlessly by some politicians because appealing to prejudice and paranoia really does motivate racist, paranoid people to show up and vote.”

Now there something we can all agree on!

Except they’re referring to Republicans and I’m thinking about the Democrats!

According to Dom Calicchio of Fox News, “Trump policies, racism, may cause some black women’s weight problems, a Rutgers professor says.”

“Brittney Cooper a Rutgers University professor believes President Trump’s policies and racism is causing black women’s weight problems.”

Okay…, all of these racism claims and Trump blaming are getting pretty ridiculous now!

Are President Trump’s racist policies causing me to stuff my face in order to make myself feel better?

“That’s the sort of question some black women may be asking themselves, a Rutgers University professor suggested during a recent appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Network.”

“Although, more accurately, the problem may be the stress and anxiety caused by the policies rather than the policies themselves, Brittney Cooper, who teaches gender studies at the New Jersey-based university, said on a recent episode of ‘Black Women OWN the Conversation.’”

It’s not the policies, stupid…, it’s the policies!

President Trump has not even been in office for three years.

I would be willing to bet that almost all of these women haven’t changed much since the “glorious” Obama years.

President Trump’s policies are “killing your people?!”

Actually, millions of minorities have been lifted out of poverty.

Millions of minorities have been lifted off of food stamps.

Millions of minorities are finding jobs and getting better jobs and higher pay.

People have at least the same access to health care and insurance as they did under Barack Obama, and even better in most cases.

President Trump has implemented many new policies aimed at improving the economic situations of our inner-cities.

If you were being honest, you would have to say that minorities are definitely winning with President Trump.

According to the GOP website:

“President Trump has fostered a roaring economy for all Americans, driving down unemployment rates for minority groups, with African American, Asian, and Hispanic unemployment hitting record lows in recent months.”

“Under President Obama, African American unemployment was on average 5.2 percent higher than the general population, and Hispanic unemployment averaged 1.9 percent higher.”

“Under President Trump, not only has minority unemployment plummeted, but the unemployment gap has narrowed to 3 percent for African Americans, and 0.8 percent for Hispanics.”

The “Opportunity Zones” incentive is a new community investment tool, established by President Trump, in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 to encourage long-term investments in low-income urban and rural communities nationwide. Opportunity Zones provide a tax incentive for investors to re-invest their unrealized capital gains into dedicated “Opportunity Funds.”

“President Trump has focused on providing jobs training programs that help Americans who can’t afford a college education earn money while they learn.”

“In an effort to promote the growth of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), President Trump has increased funding for various HBCU programs.”

“Under President Trump, technical education and vocational studies, programs that are heavily utilized by minorities, have received $1.2 billion in funding.”

“Under President Trump, Obamacare’s harmful and costly individual mandate has been repealed and access to Short-Term Limited-Duration plans has been expanded in order to provide more affordable healthcare plans to the American people.”

“Premiums for these plans can be up to 80 percent lower than Obamacare healthcare plans.”

“President Trump has been an avid advocate of prison reform, supporting The First Step Act, sentencing reforms, and hosting a Prison Reform Summit where he sought input from over 100 activists, experts and policymakers. President Trump plans to address the partisan divide in Congress on improving prison conditions and better-preparing prisoners for re-entry into society.”

“The First Step Act, which would place federal prisoners closer to home, allow more home confinement for lower-level offenders, and expand prison employment programs, has also been signed into law.

And these are just a few of the horrible injustices and terribly racist policies, championed by President Trump, that should keep African-American women up at night and stuffing their faces!

‘“I hate when people talk about black women being obese,’ Cooper continued. ‘I hate it because it becomes a way to blame us for a set of conditions that we didn’t create.’”

We feel for you and your sisters Ms. Cooper. I’ve heard reports that the day after President Trump’s inauguration day, hordes of republican staffers invaded our inner-cities, literally stuffing food down the throats of African-American women.

Damn those whiteys for building all of those KFC’s, Pizza Huts, Popeye’s, McDonald’s and Taco Bells!

I don’t think many people would argue that stress in general can have a definite affect our health.

I would contend it is the sum of our democrat “friends” and the liberal propaganda main stream media who are fraudulently creating racial stress in our country at President Trump’s expense.

Ask a liberal to find a direct quote of President Trump’s or a real example of one of his policies that can be identified as being racist.

They won’t be able to do it…, because there aren’t any!

They have been told, and are continually being told there are, and they are taking these libelous accusations as the truth…, which they are not.

Should college athletes get paid?

Well, there’s “getting paid,” and then there’s “GETTING PAID!”

According to Alan Binder of The New York Times, “N.C.A.A. Athletes Could Be Paid Under a New California Law. Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill to allow college athletes to hire agents and make money from endorsements.”

This is the “getting paid” scenario…, not the “GETTING PAID” scenario.

“The measure, the first of its kind, threatens the business model of college sports.”

Translated…, this means that colleges are worried because they may have to stop taking advantage of these young athletes and actually operate like the businesses they are.

Under the new California law, college athletes, said more correctly, would be “allowed to earn money from endorsements…,” they would not be “getting paid” for their athletic services to the given college.

So all of this “wringing of hands” is just over allowing the students to make their own money on the side.

This interpretation of “getting paid” should be a no-brainer. This is The United States of America after all. This is a capitalist economy. People should not be hindered from making money (legally) if they have the opportunity to do so.

This whole concept of “amateurism” should be done away with in my opinion.

We’ve already ditched “amateurism” as far as the Olympics is concerned. Have our Olympic teams fallen apart? Or does it just seem like business as usual?

I would argue that nobody cares.

“It has been a bedrock principle behind college sports: Student-athletes should not be paid beyond the costs of attending a university.”

Well my friends…, it’s long overdue that this “bedrock principle behind college sports” be “put to bed.”

The current system looks more like the college institutions are the plantations and the student athletes are the indentured servants.

The students are getting some level of reciprocation (scholarships), but the whole situation is VERY much in the “plantation owners’” favor.

“The new law, which is supposed to take effect in 2023 [and in California only], attacks the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s long-held philosophy that college athletes should earn a degree, not money, for playing sports. That view, also under assault in several other states and on Capitol Hill, has held up even as the college sports industry swelled into a behemoth that generated at least $14 billion last year, and as athletes faced mounting demands on their bodies and schedules.”

A $14 BILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY!

I would argue that figure is quite conservative as well.

Universities across the country already get many “considerations” as far as making money is concerned. Please see my blog from November 16, 2017, “Colleges are ‘majoring’ in making money.”

“Every single student in the university can market their name, image and likeness; they can go and get a YouTube channel, and they can monetize that. The only group that can’t are athletes. Why is that?”

“The N.C.A.A., which has been studying the possibility of rewriting its rules on endorsements, has called the measure [the proposed law in California] “unconstitutional” and said without elaboration on Monday that it would “consider next steps in California.”

Look who’s calling who’s practices “unconstitutional!”

Is the NCAA serious?!

I don’t like throwing the “R” word around, but the NCAA’s practices could definitely be seen as racist in nature, seeing that an overwhelming percentage of marketable college athletes are African-American.

‘“People are just so aware of the fact that you’ve got a multi-billion-dollar industry that — let’s set aside scholarships — basically denies compensation to the very talent, the very work that produces that revenue,’ said Senator Nancy Skinner, a Democrat, who wrote the legislation. ‘Students who love their sport and are committed to continuing their sport in college are handicapped in so many ways, and it’s all due to N.C.A.A. rules.’”

“People said, ‘You know what, we’ve got to force their hands,’ said Gov. Newsom, who was once a regent for some of California’s largest public universities. “They’re not going to do the right thing on their own. They only do the right thing when they’re sued or they’re forced to do the right thing.”

“Only a fraction of college athletes eventually turn professional, and for the rest, ‘college is the only time they have to profit off their hard-earned athletic successes,’ Hayley Hodson, a former Stanford volleyball player, said during legislative testimony in July.”

I wholeheartedly agree with Ms. Hodson. College athletes are forced to make many sacrifices and, in many cases, suffer through serious and devastating physical injuries for the “good of team,” which really means for the good of the university’s bank account!

Madisen Martinez, on the CollegeXpress.com website, says, “Being a college student-athlete is a full-time job, bouncing between the weight room, the court/field, classes, and film sessions. College athletics are extracurricular activities, but the schedules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) tournaments require an extended period in which the student-athletes must miss school. Not only do they miss class, but they are absent for nationally televised games that make a lot of money and receive millions of viewers, according to Marc Edelman in his article ‘21 Reasons Why Student-Athletes Are Employees and Should Be Allowed to Unionize.’”

Obviously these colleges are more concerned with their streams of revenue as opposed to the education their “students” are receiving.

‘“Most profits from college athletics do not go toward academics,’ reports Edelman.”

The profits go towards making more profits.

Like bigger and better football stadiums, seating 70,000, 80,000, 90,000, and even 100,000 fans and more.

Like bigger and better “state of the art” basketball arenas, and bigger and better “state of the art” training facilities.

And let’s not forget the multi-million dollar contracts for the high profile coaches of these “programs.”

Let’s not fool ourselves…, IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY…, just like it always is.
