Their level of confusion is impressive!

According to Sam Dorman of Fox News, “Columbia University is planning to hold six additional graduation ceremonies for students according to their race and other aspects of how they identify.”

Oh…, how racist and discriminatory of them!

“The New York City school’s [As soon as you see ‘New York City school, you know they’re going to be challenged, common sense wise.] website details graduation ceremonies for Native, Asian, ‘Latinx’ [‘Latinx’ is a gender-neutral neologism (A ‘neologism’ is a newly coined word or expression), sometimes used to refer to people of Latin American cultural or ethnic identity in the United States. The ⟨-x⟩ suffix replaces the ⟨-o/-a⟩ ending of Latino and Latina that are typical of grammatical gender in Spanish.] and Black students taking place for Columbia College, Columbia Engineering, General Studies and Barnard College at the end of April. Another dubbed ‘FLI Graduation’ is for ‘first generation and/or low-income community.’ The school also hosts a ‘Lavender’ graduation for the ‘LGBTIAQ+ community.’”

I didn’t really want to get into all of this LGBTIAQ stuff right now, but we should know what we’re talking about here…, so here goes…

Dr. Nyx McLean, for Independent Online, or IOL, a news and information website based in South Africa, writes, “LGBT, LGBTIAQ or LGBTIAQQAP+, the letters frustrate even members of the LGBTIAQ community who don’t always know what they all mean.”

Huh?

Envision me shaking my head.

It seems we’re not off on the right foot, but let’s continue anyway.

“The letters do not only represent sexual orientation or identity but also gender identity.”

What?

“The difference? Sexual orientation or identity is about who you are attracted to and how you act on this desire. Gender identity is about how you identify or do not identify with regards to your gender. Gender identity has expanded beyond the binary of man and woman and includes non-binary, gender non-conforming, genderqueer, agender, just to name a few.”

Sex and sexual orientation isn’t supposed to be this hard…, really.

“The L is for Lesbian: Self-identified womxn* (Womxn is the alternative writing of women to include transgender women) loving womxn. They have romantic, sexual or emotional relationships with womxn of the same gender.”

“The G is for Gay: Self-identified men loving men. They have romantic, sexual or emotional relationships with men of the same gender.”

“The B is for Bisexual: Someone who loves people of any gender. With the inclusion or social recognition that there is more than one gender, this sexual orientation is also called pansexual.”

“The T is for Transgender: Someone who does not fit their assigned gender identity. For instance, someone who may have been born female and raised as a girl but does not identify as a girl or woman but as a man or a non-binary person. They may undergo a transition either hormonal (taking estrogen or testosterone), surgical (gender-affirming surgeries) or they may not do either and simply present as the gender they identify with by dressing in a particular way that makes them feel more comfortable in their skin.”

“The I is for Intersex: Intersex is a person who is born with different chromosomes, sex hormones, genitals and do not align with what is typically a male or female body. It is far more common than we think with many children having corrective surgery after they are born and being raised as the gender that their genitals are best associated with. This medical intervention at birth is more and more being questioned with people proposing that children be allowed to express their gender before being assigned a gender that they may not identify with at a later stage.”

“The A is for Asexual: Someone is asexual if they do not experience any sexual desire, attraction or feelings for another person. This does not mean that they cannot have romantic or platonic relationships but that these relationships are not founded on sexual desire but rather on feelings and human connection. Asexual people are often faced with an onslaught of advice from well-meaning people about how they haven’t met the right person or that they may be a different sexual orientation to how they’re being read but what this does is disrespect an asexual person’s identity. Trust a person to know what or who they do or do not desire.”

“The Q is for Queer: Queer is often used as a catch-all for the LGBTIAQ community. Queer is an identity in and of itself. It can mean not fitting into any particular label or sexual identity that exists (so not being straight, gay or bisexual), it is an identity outside of the norms that does not fit into the options that are available. Queer as a word was once used as a slur as is still derogatory but many people who identify as queer have reclaimed the word. Not everyone is comfortable using this word to describe themselves. How do you know if queer is being used in a derogatory way? If it is being thrown around to describe someone and there is a tone of anger, fear or hate, then chances are it is derogatory.”

“Other letters you may encounter, such as with the longer version of LGBTIAQQAP+ include these identities: questioning, allies, pansexual and + for everyone else who does not identify as heterosexual, cisgender or with any of the options available.”

Does that clear it up a little?

I’m sorry…, I know it doesn’t, but at least we tried.

Before we proceed, I’d just like to say, “does anyone really need to know what kind of sex you like or what sex you think you are?

Personally, I don’t feel the need for anyone to know what the deal is with me, and I really don’t care what anyone else is, or does, as long as they don’t shove it in my face.

Isn’t this all personal information?

Most of us really don’t care what you think you are or whose bones you want to jump…, just in case you were wondering.

Anyway…, getting back to Columbia University …,

“Due to coronavirus restrictions, the ceremonies will take place online.”

Soooo, wearing a mask and staying three apart from each other is unworkable?

I feel like the virus has become an excuse not to do things more than a safety thing at this point.

“It’s unclear when the separate ceremonies were announced, but Sunday was the deadline for nominating individuals in Columbia College, Columbia Engineering and General Studies for the ‘Multicultural Affairs Graduation Cords.’”

Ooooh!

“Multicultural Affairs Graduation Cords!”

This must be the highest honor attainable at Columbia University!

You know…, being “multicultural” and all.

“Columbia University did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment [People usually aren’t too eager to comment on their stupidness.], and it’s unclear whether the ceremonies would necessarily exclude individuals of other races or backgrounds.”

I’m not sure how, since anyone can identify as anything these days!

Think about it.

On one hand we complete freedom of racial, gender, and sexual identification, and on the other hand they are segregating the students out by race, gender, and sexual preference…, not to mention segregation by economic status as well.

The hypocrisy is just overwhelming!!!

“The university is also hosting what appears to be a more general commencement ceremony [Otherwise known as the ceremony for whities!] on April 30.”

“Try not to speak, Michelle,” said the people with a brain.

According to Dom Calicchio of Fox News, “Michelle Obama says whites ‘still running’ away from minorities, immigrants.”

“White Americans are ‘still running’ elsewhere when minorities and immigrants move into their communities, Michelle Obama observed Tuesday.”

“The former first lady made the remarks at the Obama Foundation Summit, held at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.”

Excuse me, but did you have to wear a bulletproof suit to and from the institute, Michelle?

I mean with all of the gun violence in your home city of Chicago there, and all.

“In a sit-down interview with journalist Isabel Wilkerson, in which Obama was accompanied by her brother, Craig Robinson, an executive with the NBA’s New York Knicks, Obama described when she first became conscious of what’s been called ‘white flight.’”

‘“We were doing everything we were supposed to do – and better,’ Obama said of her family, recalling when they got a new address on Chicago’s South Side. ‘But when we moved in, white families moved out.’”

A bit of an exaggeration, I’m sure.

And “doing everything we were supposed to do” according to who?

What are you talking about?

‘“I want to remind white folks that y’all were running from us,’ she continued, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. ‘And you’re still running.’”

Uh…, not racist at all are we, Michelle?

amich 3

So all 230 million of us “whiteys” all act the same and can be lumped into one group?

“Discrimination took another form as she advanced in her academic career, said the 55-year-old Obama, a best-selling author with degrees from Princeton and Harvard, adding she did her best to move forward and achieve despite the mistreatment.”

‘“As people doubted us coming through — ‘Are you Princeton material? Can you really make the grade? Can you cut it? — What do you do in those instances?’ Obama asked, according to The Hill. ‘All you can do is put your head down and do the work and let the work, your truth, speak for itself.’”

amich 4

Uh…, hello, Michelle.  I’m getting the impression that you think white people receive some kind of automatic diploma from Princeton or Harvard.  That white people don’t have doubts about whether they’re good enough, and that they don’t have to work hard to achieve anything.

Seriously?

You can’t possibly be that stupid, Michelle, can you?

Is this what a degree from Princeton and Harvard gets you?

“[Michelle] Obama added that she is mystified by the concept of discrimination.”

You might be mystified by the “concept of discrimination,” Michelle, but your execution of discrimination seems just fine.

‘“I can’t make people not afraid of black people,’ she said, according to The Hill. ‘I don’t know what’s going on.  I can’t explain what’s happening in your head.’”

Ok…, again, Michelle…, not all Black people are created equally.

White people, Hispanic people and Asian people are not afraid of “Black” people.

They’re afraid of any color person who walks around with a gun shooting other people.

They’re afraid of any color person who walks around acting uncivilized.

They’re afraid of any color person who walks around in gangs.

They’re afraid of any color person who walks around dealing deadly drugs to their children.

They’re afraid of any color person who walks around with no common courtesy for other people.

Are there some white people out there who are racist and just don’t like Black people because they’re black?

Yes.

Just like there are some Black people out there who are racist and just don’t like white people because they’re white.

Yes.

People like you, Michelle.

Well, these words are coming out of your mouth, aren’t they, Michelle?

amich 1

amich 2

People like that are out there, but you just can’t lump all white people together, just like you can’t lump all Black people together.

‘“But maybe if I show up every day as a human, a good human, doing wonderful things, loving my family, loving our kids, taking care of things that I care about — maybe, just maybe that work will pick away at the scabs of our discrimination.  Maybe that will slowly unravel it.’”

All I can say is, “Speak for yourself, Michelle…, just speak for yourself.”

Can we talk…, about racism?

Liberals are quick to accuse others of being “a racist…,” and we hear them making their accusations on almost a daily basis now.

race13

But there are a lot of aspects to the term “racist.”

What are they, and what are we really talking about here?

By definition, “racism” is the belief in the superiority of one race over another.

“Racial discrimination” is any discrimination against others based on the color of their skin, racial or ethnic origin.

Can we agree that there definitely are “racists” in every corner of the globe?

race 14

It’s just human nature and in our subconscious mind I believe.

Our view of the world and other people is influenced by our family, where we grew-up, the culture we grew-up in, and who we grew-up with.

Let’s take the definition of “racism” and substitute the word “racism” with a few other words.

Let’s start with “culture-ism” and “culture.”

Culture-ism” is the belief in the superiority of one culture over another.

We see displays of “culture-ism” all of the time, and it doesn’t seem to be much of an issue.  We see people displaying pride in their “ethnic origin,” country of origin, or culture of origin and people don’t get all bent out of shape over it.

We see displays of “ethnic origin,” country of origin, or culture of origin pride during the Olympics.  We see Irish pride displayed on St. Patty’s Day.  We see Mexican pride displayed on Cinco de Mayo.  We see African-American pride displayed on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Day.

Can anyone deny “Greek pride,” “Italian pride,” Japanese, Chinese, Jewish, German, Middle Eastern, Australian, English, Scandinavian, etc. pride?

Of course not.

I apologize if I left out your particular “group” of pride, but the list could go on and on.  This is just a display of my innate “racism” or “culture-ism” I guess!

Do people of these groups feel their “group” is “better” than people from other “groups?”

I’d say, yes.

And is there anything particularly wrong with that?

I’d say no.

We see examples of this in many different areas.

We have pride in the town we are from or live in.

We have pride in the state we are from or live in.

We have pride in the High School and college we attended.

We have pride in our families.

We have pride in the sports teams we support.

Are you “a dog person?”

Are you “a cat person?”

Are you a liberal or a conservative?

How much money do you have?

How much formal education do you have?

And how about our religion?!

The point is, we all believe in the superiority of one “group” over another “group” in many cases.

We discriminate against others, based on many different factors, all of the time.

race 11

race 8

If we are really honest with ourselves, we all have to acknowledge this.

For some reason skin color is treated differently, however.

Being labeled a “racist” nowadays seems to be the ultimate sin.

race 9

race 7

Skin color is as good a reason to discriminate as any of the other reasons, I guess.

Oh…, and by the way…, no one is actually “white.”

No one is actually “black.”

No one is actually “yellow.”

And no one is actually “red.”

And if our government, educational institutions, and any manner of other businesses or associations aren’t “racist” or “culture-ist…,” why do they keep asking us what race we consider ourselves to be on all manner of forms, applications and surveys?

Why?

race 6

race 10

We are all a million different varying shades of many different colors.

Did you know that African-Americans actually discriminate against each other based on the degree of their “blackness” or the degree of their “lightness?”

It’s true.

Regarding this, I guess you could label them as “colorists” or “shade-ists!”

One thing is for sure…, there are plenty of discriminatory factors to go around.

Just consider everything we’ve discussed here the next time you see a self-righteous liberal casting “racist” lightning bolts down at “whites” and conservatives mostly, from atop their race enlightened perches.

race 12

For anyone to believe they are above being discriminatory against others in any fashion, for any reason, is just foolish and disingenuous.

But I guess they’d label me as a racist for saying that.
