At least 59 killed and over 500 injured. This could be a headline describing 2-3 weeks in Chicago.
We don’t see anything really being done about this though, nor do we see around the clock coverage about this situation either, do we? Chicago is too worried about being a “sanctuary city.” A sanctuary to whom? Who would choose to take sanctuary in a war zone?
So, the people of Chicago are left to suffer and be victimized, while politicians argue about passing some new law that will be as ineffective as the rest of them. Isn’t murder already against the law? Isn’t shooting someone already against the law?
It’s not the laws that solve anything, it’s the level of the enforcement of those laws, the level of the prosecution of those laws, sentences that keep the people that break these laws out of circulation, and effective support programs that can make a difference.
Talk is cheap, and so is misguided and misrepresented outrage.
